Polymorphous Flowers & Plants

Polymorphous defines the beautiful and terrible in nature and acknowledges the micro and macrocosm where life is expressed in color, light, and energy and a force of destruction and regeneration — where the universe mind, and spirit are eternal. A source of inspiration for this series is Odilon Redon’s “Les Fleurs du mall” (The Flowers of Evil) after Charles Baudelarie’s “Les Fleurs du Mal”. Similarly, my series features dark, imaginative, and often grotesque imagery that explores humanity's fascination with both beauty and horror, spiritual and sensual experiences, and the dark side of the human soul — and, from a 21st century sensibility, seeks an appraisal of fin de siècle (end of the century) from the previous 19th and early 20th centuries.

Joseph Loccisano is a visual artist dedicated to giving expression to the ineffable. His works are provocative and evocative that often “…hit a heart spot.” He is always pleased when collectors buy his most personal and enigmatic works which he sees as affirmations perfectly captured by one reviewer who, when referring to a particular work, stated, “Sublime! This [work] is startling in its originality. The use of color, line, shape and form to explore the representation of reality. It is as if light is forcing its way through, refracting as in beveled glass revealing a shadow image. It made me think of Plato’s theory of forms. Profundity in a simple object…” Caroline A.
